The Mentalist Wiki

Mr. Heller, I have been a devoted fan and viewer of the Mentalist since the beginning.  I was so pleased with the finale of season 6 in which Lisbon and Jane professed their love for each other.  I thought the entire episode was well written and I appreciated the simplicity, old-fashioned, sweetness of the scenes with Jane on the plane and Jane and Lisbon in the detention area.  It was a great build-up.

I would like to suggest as the next season begins that we pick up close to where season 6 ended--not so far out into the future.  As a fan, I would like to see the relationship of Jane and Lisbon grow and mature into a strong, tender, passionate, committed, satisfying love.  There have been so few romantc scenes until now, I think the audience needs to see and feel their growing love, changes in their lives, recovery from the past hurts.  I would like to see Jane remove his old wedding ring as a symbol of his readiness, need and desire to move forward to a bright, happy future with Lisbon.  I would like to see how the co-workers and boss react to them at work as a couple.  I would like to see them in a scene where they make love for the first time.  Of course, I would like it to be realistic without all of the nudity--tastefully, discreetly done to show passion, love, commitment.  As other fans, I, too, hope the next season ends with a wedding and perhaps a child for them.

We need to see complications, threats to their safety, companionship and loyalty and the ability to work together as a team even though they are in a love relationship.  My main concern is that we have seen them through so many challenges through the years, I would like to walk with them through this time in their lives as well--not just be updated like a fast-forward.   Let Lisbon and Jane express their feelings and thoughts during the 2 years apart after the death of Red John.  I want to see tenderness, integrity and real concern for others from Jane.  I want to see Lisbon happy, with trust and pride in Jane's return to the living.

Most of us have loved and lost in our pasts. We look back and try to imagine what life would have been like with that other person if only......I am glad they will not have to wonder about each other.  There is not much happiness, romance, courtship, innocence, old-fashioned ideas left in this world anymore.  Even though these are fictional characters, it warms my heart to see something good happen for two people who have had many heartaches in their lives.  It makes me believe in true love again.  Thanks for listening. 108.76.161.236 04:23, May 25, 2014 (UTC)59 year old female fan
